Mark of the ninja special edition is a dlc that was released subsequently after the release of the game mark of the ninja.What defines ninja?ninjas are veiled guys with mass capabilities and they perform assassinations without getting detected,and this is the idea of the whole game.You are a ninja and you have to take down enemies by being silent as snail,you can distract enemies by throwing objects,or crouch till you reach their back and perform a silent kill.
As in shooting games the players can take cover behind objects,you can do the same think in this game.It is not necessary to kill the guards,you can silently evade them,this will earn you more points and for even more you should hide the bodies.
When missions are cleared you get the score board,which tells you how many people you killed silently,loudly or directly.And before you start a mission you first go through a upgrade screen,the points you earn in missions are used to upgrade your skills.
